Big Hog's Bbq - AVALON
Big Hog's Bbq
Description
Once a local BBQ spot, the restaurant now disappoints with greasy, fatty brisket lacking sauce, slightly overcooked St. Louis–style ribs without smoke, and average to bitter sides. Portions (notably cornbread) feel tiny for the price, though hush puppies earn praise. Service is limited to pickup and the operation can be confusing. For value and authentic smoked barbecue, diners may want to look elsewhere.

This restaurant is a disappointment! I don't understand why it's still called Bug Hogs when it's now Circle Pizza. We just placed an order, and it was terrible! The brisket was nothing but fat, and there was no BBQ sauce at all. We also ordered cornbread, and for $3.95, we received a tiny piece that was almost so small I considered tossing it out because it was wrapped in tin foil. We just wasted $34.00! I recommend avoiding this unpleasant place!
It used to be Avalon BBQ, and I wish it still were. The experience was mediocre at best. I ordered St. Louis-style ribs, which were slightly overcooked and lacked any smoky flavor. The sides were also quite average. Prices remained high, similar to Avalon BBQ's rates. While there is a place for this style of BBQ, it doesn't justify their price points.
I tried this place for the first time and I would definitely return. I ordered the BBQ sampler, and it was absolutely delicious.
The brisket sandwiches we had were greasy and unappetizing, even for two hungry people. The hush puppies were tasty, but the greens were bitter and impossible to eat. Overall, I’d choose a different restaurant next time.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. My food was cold, and I could have easily prepared a better meal in my hotel room. They were out of the only dish that seemed appealing—mac and cheese. I would like a refund, as the meal was overpriced for such a cafeteria-quality experience.
