If you find yourself visiting Catalina Island, do yourself a favor and stop by NDMK Fish House. My family stopped by while on a shore excursion from a cruise. Disclaimer is I am not a seafood person. I don’t order fish unless I’m in a place where I know I have the best possible opportunity to get good fish. My wife however is a fish person, so I have her full endorsement of this review. To start with the whole island is a quaint little town. The restaurant fits right into this element. It says
The food, particularly the sushi rolls, was a favorite. The Farnsworth Bank roll was great. The shrimp tempura was lightly breaded and topped with spicy tuna. The jalapeño added a bit of spice but can easily be picked out or excluded. I liked it with the jalapeño. The Ring of Fire has a crunchy chili oil, which is so good. They also put the crunchy chili oil on the edamame, so grab those too. The fish tacos with halibut had a great mix of flavors with the pico de gallo and chipotle sauce. I did
On a Sunday at noon we were able to walk in and get a table. By 12:30 it got busy. Friendly service. Generously sized small side salad . Nice flavor to the spicy tuna sandwich. The fish tacos were also we 'll received.
We ordered the fish collar, which is sizable enough to feed four people, and it was the largest and most delicious one we've ever had. That's quite a statement considering my wife, who is a food blogger, makes it a point to try fish collar wherever we go. I highly recommend both the restaurant and the fish collar, and I hope you're fortunate enough to have CJ serve you during your visit!
