The chips were crispy and perfectly salted, the calamari and prawns had the best breadcrumbs, and the lightly battered fish bites were excellent. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. I can't find any faults with Shells. There are some nice seating options at Austinmer beach across the road for enjoying the view while eating, as well as picnic tables at the northern end for relaxing with family and friends.

Today, I finally found a spot and decided to try their signature burger. Unfortunately, it was the worst burger I have had in a long time. I will not be returning. The sign advertising gourmet burgers made me laugh afterwards, please take it down. Service: Take out. Meal type: Lunch.

Absolutely clean and spacious, the staff were extremely professional and nice to deal with. They make sure they can customise your order exactly to the way you want. The chips were just so good. Crispy yet fresh. And a perfect amount of salt. Absolutely a wonderful visit. Keep it up team! Service: Take out

I travelled down today from... read more I’ve been a visitor to Shells Diner for years a long overdue review (sorry it took so long). Shells Diner is good consistently good. I travelled down today from Sydney just for lunch. I ordered the salt and pepper squid with chips. The batter was excellent, the squid tender, the portion size generous, the price excellent. Shells doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is down to earth, clean, honest, well cooked and diverse menu items, unique music surf memorabilia and friendly, fantastic staff. Don’t change a thing, Shells Diner. You be you and I’ll keep coming back as I continue on MY well lived life. I wish you best of luck with the beer garden opening this summer not that you’ll need it.
