We often opt to eat at the bar where Arthur gives us impeccable service and is constantly on top of my girlfriends dietary needs. The food has been excellent, in particular the shaken beef which we seem to order every time. The sushi has consistently been fresh and delicious. We live downtown and have a plethora of restaurant options, but we find ourselves coming here frequently just for the wonderful food, service and experience.

The chefs behind the counter are usually good and friendly, the fish is fresh and reasonably priced and wait times to get a seat at the bar are pretty short. It's hard to give a sushi spot 5 stars when Uchiko is just down the road but aside from that echelon of sushi, this place is great.

Traditionally, chirashi is served in a bowl over fresh sushi rice, but this dish came on a large platter with what appeared to be day-old rice pressed down and topped with various pieces of fish. Unfortunately, the fish didn't taste fresh at all, and there were strange garnishes of lemon wedges scattered throughout the plate. Was this supposed to be appealing? I'm not sure. It was clear that the food was prepared with little care and by someone who may not have had enough experience in sushi-making. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. However, I'm giving an extra star because perhaps the lunch crew was just having an off day.

The shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings were exceptional, and the pork buns were simply outstanding. I can't recommend this place highly enough!
