You must try the chopped brisket sandwich! It’s incredible—seriously, one of the best I've ever had! It comes with two recommended sides: the smoked gouda mac and cheese and the double baked potato casserole. I also got some boiled chips to go along with it! Everything was phenomenal! What User doesn't like about Slab Bbq Beer:
this place had much better eating in its earlier less chic bbq restaurant incarnation. I had naked st. louis ripen and the flesh was really of the bone tender, but without the sauce it had zero smokey or whatever taste. the sauce and the buds were too sweet. overall it was ok, but not a satisfactory lunch. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, and it was amazing! Honestly, it's one of the best I've ever had! I paired it with two recommended sides: smoked Gouda mac and cheese and double baked potato casserole. I also added some kettle chips on the side. Everything was phenomenal!
My meal was incredible! I loved all the sauces, but the glaze they use for their ribs is truly exceptional! I ordered some on the side and couldn't help but dip my chicken in it! The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic!
The bbq here while not served in the traditional Texas way,but instead as sandwiches is super. The sides are also very good. If you come during lunch expect it to be busy, the line does move fast though. I enjoyed the McDowell which is their rib sandwichand thought it was excellent. Note I enjoyed it with the normal portion size and it was plenty. I can’t imagine the doublemeat version.
Whether you're a local or just passing through Austin, SLAB BBQ is a must-visit for barbecue lovers! I recently had the popular Texas-sized sandwich called the Donk, which is a massive 1-pound creation piled high with all the smoked meats and toppings from SLAB—it was absolutely incredible! The ribs and BBQ nachos are simply divine, and you definitely shouldn’t miss out on the smoked gouda macaroni! For a delicious dessert, be sure to order the nana puddin’, which comes with either a Tupac or Biggie cookie. I highly recommend it—10/10!
