Although I usually d... read more I ordered the coffee pork with coconut rice and macaroni salad, and for dessert, I had the coconut cake. The pork was absolutely fantastic! Although I usually don't enjoy cold pasta salads, I found the macaroni salad surprisingly enjoyable. I'm definitely a dessert lover, and the coconut cake exceeded my expectations. I loved everything so much, including the rice, that I didn't have enough room to finish it all. Luckily, I was able to take some home for my husband, who couldn't stop thanking me for introducing him to such delicious food. I highly recommend visiting the restaurant "She's Not Here." I also tried a barrel-aged cocktail made with scotch and banana liqueur, among other spirits, and it was both unique and delicious. Clearly, everything I sampled could be described as delicious, which is spot on. The staff were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive, even though the restaurant was relatively quiet during my visit.

My stomach was hinting that the previous snack hadn’t quite hit the spot, so I decided to go in. The outdoor seating looked cozy and inviting, but I chose to sit at the bar inside so I could be served directly. My server, Sophia, was fantastic and recommended a drink called The Hibiscus, made with Hibiscus Rye, coconut sugar, and tiki bitters. I enjoyed sipping on that while waiting for my second light snack of the day, the Crab Salad, which included Kani Kama crab, arugula, pickled red onions, nori, and tamago furikake. It was delicious! Just as I was about to leave, Sophia convinced me to try the Matcha Tres Leches dessert, featuring yellow cake, matcha milk, macadamia nuts, and coconut rum whipped cream, which was absolutely incredible. I loved the atmosphere of this place and will definitely be returning.

However the place doesn’t feel like a sushi restaurant, more like a fancy bar, should have tropical small plates maybe. I don’t really get Hawaiian tropical sushi connection, yes there are a lot of Japanese in Hawaii but sushi is not what comes to mind when I think of Hawaii or tropical. This is a cool place for visitors but as an Austin resident, if I want to eat sushi I’ll keep going to Uchi.
