Was Doña Francia Comida Típica at Second Kitchen a mag?
We originally planned to go to Congress, but since it’s closed on Mondays, we tried Second Kitchen instead. The restaurant exceeded our expectations, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The fried pickles and the black and bleu pizza were especially delicious. View all feedback.

The service started off quite well, but then it took a turn for the worse. We found ourselves wondering, "Where is our server and why is it taking so long?" There were five of us girls trying to keep a positive attitude while we anxiously awaited our check, all while sitting outside and freezing. (Sitting outside wasn't my choice). When we finally managed to catch our server's attention, we asked for the bill and inquired about splitting it. He said we could, but it would take a while. We decided to forget that; it felt like we couldn't wait any longer, so we opted for one check instead. Despite the service hiccups, we all agreed that the food was quite good. Everything was tasty and the portions were generous, so we would definitely consider returning.
A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. Even the salad is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked salmon. While their beer and wine selection might not be the most extensive, their cocktails are a great option as well.
Open late with exceptional service, this restaurant truly impressed me. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even for a late dinner at 10:20 PM. The food was served quickly and was fresh—just what you need when you find yourself having dinner so late. I would definitely return!
Always a solid choice downtown for a nice business lunch or dinner. I live nearby and frequent it because it?s always a good choice. Especially for picky eaters that like American food but don?t really branch out beyond that. Brunch is my favorite mealthey serve, it?s all good. For dinner I love their Congress burger and the chicken is killer as well.
Party of 8 went there for New Years Eve Dinner. Absolutely excellent meal, attentive service and atmosphere. Some of our party ordered the small plates and some of us ordered entrees. They all came out hot, one of my pet peeves with large groups. Iordered the braised beef short rib · truffle grits · caramelized onions · brandy balsamic glaze · tobacco onions $25. I hadnot had anything flavored with tobacco. It was not overwhelming and added to the dish. The best meal I have had in ages. We allshared bites of all the other plates and they were delicious also. Highly recommended!

Congress burger tasted really homemade, wonderful soft buns, side of handcut potato chips My Chianti was best I've had in an Austin restaurant There were five of us dining and the others in my group also praised their food choices. Waitstaff was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive
We took our entire family ages 7 to 67 for brunch while all were here for the Christmas holidays. Had a great time and everyone really liked the food. Our grandchildren, who are notoriously picky eaters, devoured what they ordered. I would highly recommend this restaurant for brunch, and plan to go back soon to try their dinner menu.
Seven of us dined at Second Bar Kitchen, and every single one of us was very happy with our food. Service was also very good and unobtrusive. Pretty noisy, but not impossible to carry on a conversation. Their chocolate pot de creme was OUTSTANDING! Pretty unusual to have a party of seven when EVERYBODY was happy!
Great spot for a late Friday night dinner. Deeeelicious! Get the bacon and eggs and shisito peppers for sure, all of the salads are tremendous and of course the burger is one of the best in Austin.

Wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. A lively environment with modern decor and comfortable booths. We ordered the baked Brie. Delicious. She ordered the bianco pizza with Italian sausage. Delicious. I had the congress burger, medium rare. Delicious. Then we ordered a plate of dessert bites, and they surprised us by writing Happy Anniversary in chocolate! (See picture. Would come again.
Nice dinner spot nearby the convention center to people watch. The food was solid, nothing that blew us away; avocado fundido was good but nothing special, the buffalo pickles did come with some interesting sauces. Props to the bartender for some well made and unique drinks. I did find the bite sizes desserts the right portion size for someone who typically doesn't like too much dessert. Those looking for a substantial dessert might need to order a few.
Modern spot for a quick bite. Food was decent but not overly Wow! I was looking forward to truffle fries, but they were more like fries with parmesan cheese. Certainly not truffled flavor. Staff stayed huddled up chatting and wacking each other with towels. Tables are tiny and fairly close so enough your neighbors conversation.
I went to my birthday dinner and it was great, the food was super imagination, as I could hardly understand half of the things on the menu, but as it was all delicious and not completely broken bands me. The servers were really awesome and did a good job to translate the menu. The atmosphere is really modern and clean for pictures. The food was delicious everyone enjoyed it and they even had some pretty bomb vegan options so that was great.!i would definitely come back here, but in mind it is also a bar my friends and I had some trouble with someone who had obviously overwhelmed but the manager took care of it! Other than that absolutely amazing.
I just had a dish that made me laugh—it was a delightful take on rice with Asian flavors. It was light, cooked to my preference (rare), and very intriguing. The balance of fish sauce was just right, and there was just enough pork. The crispy skin on top was lovely. The chilled red wine from Hahn paired perfectly with the meal.
