The dishes at S First are rich in spice and fu... read more Although Barton Creek POLVOS is a lovely restaurant, the food there is quite different from the S First location. The dishes at S First are rich in spice and full of flavor, staying true to their Mexican heritage. Unfortunately, our lunch at Barton Creek POLVOS was lacking in authenticity and felt more tailored to a Caucasian palate. It would fit right in with the diners at Vaqueros down the street. Our server was friendly and very accommodating, but we left feeling disappointed with our meal. We’re willing to drive a few extra exits to enjoy the real POLVOS experience at S First.

The margaritas definitely had a strong kick. The biggest downside is that there are no prices listed on the menu, which led us to spend more than we anticipated. Menus should definitely include prices to keep things transparent and fair. Overall, the food gets a 5 out of 5.

The food was fantastic, the service was exceptional, and you can't go wrong spending time in South Austin. We had a small group of five for lunch.

The pork was excellent, the chicken lacked a bit of flavor, and the ground beef was the least impressive. I also had the light brown beans, which were somewhat bland. My husband tried the mole enchiladas and enjoyed them, though he mentioned the mole had a strong taste dominated by cinnamon and clove. On the plus side, the fresh salsa served with the chips was delicious. Overall, it was a good experience.

I've given it a lower rating main... read more The food at this restaurant is incredible! Although the atmosphere has a somewhat rough vibe, don't be deterred from visiting. I've given it a lower rating mainly because the location isn't the most convenient and the decor could use some modernization. However, the food is truly the best Tex-Mex I've ever had!
