Nightcap has recently been a total disappointment, with slow service and forgetful staff. Despite the great happy hour drinks, the food doesn't live up to expectations. The ambiance can vary from lively to stuffy, but some find it cozy and intimate. However, other reviewers rave about the delicious food, fantastic views, and attentive service. Some highlight the amazing cocktails, generous portions, and vegetarian options. Overall, opinions on Nightcap seem to vary, with some finding it a disappointing experience while others plan to return for the great food and atmosphere.
Was Victor Tosa at Nightcap a mag?
The waitstaff was incredibly kind and attentive. I made this reservation as a birthday surprise for my spouse, and they remembered my special request to make the occasion memorable. They went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and had everything we needed throughout our dining experience. I would definitely come back again in the future! View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner dislikes about Nightcap:
I used to frequent Nightcap often when taking people out, but my recent experience there was extremely disappointing. Despite there being enough staff, they were not attentive and spent more time chatting at the bar. My food was forgotten and I ended up leaving without eating. While the happy hour drinks are good, the happy hour food items are not worth it due to inflation - some are priced the same as regular menu i... View all feedback.

Staff is amazing! I always have a good time and great conversations every time I sit at the bar. Worth going to for a date and dimly lit dinner. Food takes a minute but worth the wait. I recommend the carnitas grilled cheese or BBQ shrimp for something onthe heavier side or the watermelon carpaccio for something light. Paired with a cocktail and you’re set for the night.
Walked in without a reservation for a bridal party of 7, they accommodated us right away. Provided the best customer service, the bartenders and waitstaff were incredible. They made sure to make it a great experience for the bride. Overall, incrediblepeople and great restaurant the owner is wonderful and austin needs more restaurants like this!!
Night cap is awesome! I love going out for cocktails and their cocktail menu does not disappoint. I love their espresso martinis and margaritas. The BBC, which is their take on a pina colada, is really really good and unique. I’m obsessed with the GulfShrimp too. A really fun place to go with friends or on a date. Also their service staff are super friendly and accommodating.Would definitely recommend.
By far the best place in Austin. The owners and staff made us feel like… family : will be back for sure. Drinks and food are amazing.
Service, food, and atmosphere were excellent for a date night. Drinks missed the mark though unfortunately. Drinks were $20/ea and they were small and didn't really taste the best lol. But food was great. We had the broccoli soup and also the grilledcheese, both delicious. This place is usually always packed.

We had a great wxperience at Nightcap. Great food and drink pre concert gathering
Amazing drinks and the burger and carnitas sandwich are on another level. Happy hour is killer and the vibe is best in Austin.
Service was great. Ambience is beautiful Salad was good. Salmon was rather cold and dense. Chicken was great while squid was also good. Prices are higher than the quality of food warrants.
We had the BBQ Shrimp, Carnitas Grilled Cheese, and the banana pudding with a bottle of wine. All of the food was excellent and the service was very fast. They also have a great taste in music. Nightcap is one of the best underrated restaurants in Austin

The waiter was very friendly and had a positive attitude, but it seemed like the restaurant was understaffed for the night. Every part of the meal took a long time, even though we had made a reservation. Additionally, the food arrived cold.
This restaurant was surprisingly good. The food was delicious and the cocktails were top-notch. The octopus dish was particularly outstanding.
We absolutely adore Nightcap! The food is delicious, the location is ideal. You have the option to dine inside or outside. Mario, the owner, is a wonderful person, very friendly and accommodating. We recently celebrated my husband's birthday there and Mario went out of his way to assist us. It was a truly amazing experience for us and all of our guests!
Awful experience. Our snarky waiter was not helpful, seemed annoyed when asked any questions. The service was so slow that by the time they finally came to take our dinner order, we did not want to wait any longer and we left. Waiter simply said...we're busy tonight. No tip, wasn't giving them any more of my money.
I came to this restaurant for drinks and a light dinner, so I can't provide a detailed review of the food, but I can say that the brussels sprouts were excellent. The drink menu was enjoyable and perfect for a fun girls' night out. The service was attentive, although I would have preferred the lighting to be a bit dimmer in the back room and the music to be a bit louder.

I made a reservation for my boyfriend’s birthday and we were excited to try this place out. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. The food was 3/10 (quail was 90% fried breading, puttanesca just tasted like tomato sauce, dips were good, everything was VERY salty) food was definitely not worth the prices. The hostess and the waitress did not acknowledge the special occasion, although it was noted in our reservation, and the experience overall felt uncomfortable. Our appetizers were placed on the wrong table, and several minutes later when that table told the waitress, she picked them up and brought them directly to our table, with no acknowledgement, which we think is very unsanitary. A bus boy then brought us our meals before clearing our appetizer plates, then leaving us with no silverware. 5 6 minutes later, our waitress finally came over, when we then were able to ask for more silverware. When the bill came, I took note of the total and put my card down, and my card was then charged $40 more than the initial total. We deduced that our waitress had originally left off the appetizers by accident, but did not acknowledge the $40 increase in total price when my card was charged and she brought the bill back. As we left, the hostess and staff did not acknowledge us leaving, which we thought, again, was odd and we felt disrespected, as we expected this to be a nicer restaurant, given the prices. Disappointed and would not recommend.
The outdoor patio was lovely. Cocktails were tasty. It took a while to get our drinks and food but once we did, it was delicious. I think I would have preferred regular goat cheese crUmbles on the beets, rather than the fried goat cheese nuggets but it was an interesting spin. I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts too!
Very disappointing. Have loved dining here previously but not a good night for them. Food was not great and service was poor. Not good at clearing dishes or checking on us periodically. Plus they crowded too many tables into the back room and half as many in the front room. Very loud.
