Mumtaz Market offers some of the best Indian cuisine in Austin, showcasing expertly seasoned dishes like lamb samosas, chicken tikka masala, and unique items such as saag gnocchi and coconut naan. The chef’s creative touch and flavorful menu have earned loyal fans, despite occasional service slowdowns and a pricey tab for groups. The ambiance is bright yet stylish, with pleasant group seating and an inviting outdoor area, though minor improvements are needed in lighting and seating comfort. While the air conditioning and cocktail knowledge could be better, the warm staff and quality food create a dining experience worth returning to.

Everything was perfect. The flavors in the cuisine had us wide eyed and audibly showing our appreciation at every new taste. Service was very attentive. Look forward to returning, will definitely take out of town friends here to show off Austin.

Let me start off by saying that food is excellent. But they just opened and I realize that there are plenty of kinks to work out, but it’s sad to say the service was not great. Our waitress only came by to take our order and give us our check… And didn’t seem to realize that there were problems with the order when it arrived. First of all, she put the order in wrong and got us something that was not what we ordered, and when we asked for the item that we ordered, it didn’t arrive again and I had to aska third time for the appetizer after all of our food had already come out. So by the time it had arrived, it had been 45 minutes. Unfortunately, it seemed like none of the staff communicated that they were issues with our order and they didn’t even let our own waitress know that this has happened. There were no apologies until I had to put my foot down I complained about the added an extra item that I did not receive because I did not order it. That means, I do plan on giving them some time to work out those kinks. So I will be coming back at a later time in the future and I hope for a better experience. The food was that good.

Great atmosphere, interesting menu and outstanding food. Got the deconstructed samosa, roasted cauliflower, butter chicken and gnocchi palak all were delicious. Service was fine.

I’ve been looking for that one Indian joint in Austin that makes me feel like folks really care about the quality of their food and boy, I’m glad I walked in to Mumtaz Market. Highly recommend the saag gnocchi, the naan, roasted cauliflower and thedeconstructed samosas. I have a sneakily feeling I’m going to be a regular so I can try the rest of the menu. The staff andthe owner were friendly, knowledgeable and gracious!

We had a great experience with the food here. Highlights were the pani puri (hard to find elsehwhere), the brussels, and the coconut naan. Otherwise it’s so hard to find Indian in Austin so I’m thrilled Mumtaz is here. My only point of feedback isthe seating. We opted for the bar because the tables and chairs are really cheap and make an otherwise beautiful restaurant feelcold. Would be a simple fix so they don’t let a lovely space go to waste.
