What a wonderful discovery for a quick breakfast! There’s no sign outside, but the breakfast tacos are customizable and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

This cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the state building. Although there isn’t an "OPEN" sign outside, it is accessible to the public, and the food is excellent. I've been enjoying meals here for years. They offer daily specials, typically featuring duck, two vegetable sides, and bread. It's one of the few places in downtown Austin (78701) where you can eat for under $10.

Cheap. Delicious. Friendly staff. My favorite place to pop into for breakfast or lunch.

I had no knowledge of Messhall when I visited Austin for a conference, but I instantly fell in love with the place. I went there for breakfast three mornings in a row. They use all local ingredients, and the staff is fantastic. It may look like a hole-in-the-wall, but the food is amazing! What I had for breakfast here was far superior to the $18 meal I had at the hotel, and it only cost $4!
