Description

At a local sushi restaurant, diners have expressed mixed experiences that highlight both strengths and weaknesses. While some praise the speedy service, fresh ingredients in dishes like shrimp tempura, and unique maki roll combinations, others criticize the quality of the food, labeling it as less authentic and overpriced. The atmosphere is often described as bland, yet some patrons appreciate the friendly staff and family-oriented vibe. One notable mention is the bento box meals, which receive acclaim for their value and portion sizes. Overall, while the spot shows potential, it may struggle to satisfy those seeking traditional Japanese flavors.

This is the first restaurant I've come across that offers a separate menu for their all-you-can-eat (AYCE) items, which is somewhat limited. I found myself frequently checking both menus to see if the rolls I wanted were included in the AYCE selection. Overall, it was a nice place to visit and a great choice for date night.

I'm puzzled by all the negative reviews I've seen. The service was both friendly and attentive, and the sushi offered great value for the price. If you're looking for affordable sushi in Austin, I believe this is an excellent choice.

This place is truly delightful! It’s like a blend of a quaint mom-and-pop sushi shop and a laid-back neighborhood bar. The service is excellent; Tema, our server, is polite and really knowledgeable about the menu. The sushi chef, who is also the owner, is a sweet and kind person. Just go in with a relaxed attitude and keep your expectations aligned with the prices. This isn’t Uchi, and they don’t try to mimic that vibe or offer the same high-end quality of fish. Maki Tori is straightforward and confident in what they provide— for $12, you can enjoy a delicious salmon roll, all served with great hospitality in a clean environment on a Tuesday night after work. It’s perfect for a night out with friends, a casual weekday date, a solo evening, or just about anything else!
