Great authentic Peruvian cuisine, and it’s conveniently located near other exciting places like AFS. Definitely worth a visit, especially since there aren't many Peruvian options in Austin!
Lima Criolla originally opened while I was living in Austin several years ago. At that time, it was a quiet spot, but the food was excellent and the service was top-notch. Now, it’s always bustling with activity, and rightly so. The food remains delicious at reasonable prices, the service is still great, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
The restaurant was clean and spacious although we were sat close to the bar where it seemed we were sitting next to where the service sat.(plenty of convos we didn't need to hear). We ordered the mixture ceviche with Jalea, and causa limeño. The ceviche was fresh and the causa was very good, but the jalea, was extremely salty. Almost like someone had made a mistake in the recipe. An ok experience.
If you find yourself in the area, you definitely shouldn't miss this restaurant. The food is exceptional—bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service is excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. The portion sizes are generous, making it perfect for sharing or taking home leftovers. It's also a fantastic spot for families, making it an ideal choice for dining with children. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try!
I've only been to this restaurant once for drinks and an appetizer. The service was good, and the pisco sour was excellent. I tried the fried yucca, which was delicious, but I can't speak much about the rest of the menu. We sat outside, which was enjoyable, but I didn't go inside, so I can't comment on the interior.
