We enjoyed the food at this restaurant, but the service was quite poor. The server didn’t check on us, and our beverage orders were completely overlooked. The food also didn’t match what was described on the menu, and despite asking about our orders, they never arrived. It appeared that the restaurant was overwhelmed, with only two servers handling the entire place. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Habesha Ethiopian Restaurant And Bar:
The waitress was nice when we first came in but shortly after seating us she quickly forgot about us. It took a long time to get our drinks (water) and we waited an hour for the food. There was a gathering at the bar of the workers who clearly knew or were kin to the guest at the bar. The focus was talking and catching up with them. The young man who was not our waiter felt sorry and came to finally apologize to and... View all feedback.
The restaurant had a delightful ambiance, and the staff was incredibly friendly, from the host to our servers. The food was simply delicious—very fresh, generous portions, and quite filling. I ordered the vegetarian sample platter and thoroughly enjoyed it, while my husband opted for a beef dish (though I'm not sure which one) and found it to be packed with flavor. We also tried the house-made honey wine, which we thought was delightful. One suggestion for improvement would be to provide more information about the Ethiopian dining experience. For instance, the honey wine was served in a flask, and we weren't certain whether we were meant to drink directly from it. After some research, we discovered that we could! Additionally, we didn't realize that eating many of the dishes with our hands was customary, and that was why we hadn’t received silverware. The service was a bit slow, but we attributed that to the busy Valentine's Day dinner crowd. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return soon!
The food was amazing, the place is adorable, and the staff is incredibly delightful. Our waitress was precious, and it is clear that it is run by a family, and there is just so much Heart there. I will go back again and again for the vibe, the sweetness, and for the fresh and incredible food.
Habesha is outstanding! I’ve had the pleasure of dining there twice, and each time the food was absolutely delicious. Every bite brought my partner and me so much joy. I was genuinely sad when I started to feel full! Additionally, the service was fantastic, and the prices were quite reasonable.
The best Ethiopian food in Austin! The Siga Wat is fantastic! If you're looking for lentils or vegetarian options, you can order side dishes at a great price. I give it a perfect 10/10!
Hands down the best Etheopian food in Austin! Don't worry about the outside of the building just go inside it is surprising. I had the Derek Tibs, Collard Greens, Cold Lentils, and Tea. Everything was exceptional. Definitely check this place out. I will be back soon!
