I had a really good experience here, in large part because the service was so friendly. I was having an off day, and they were so nice and made me feel better. The food, as always, was really good. It is a bit on the pricey side, though. I paid almost $11 for a burrito and drink with a 30% off coupon! Oof. View all feedback.
What David G doesn't like about Freebirds World Burrito:
Came here for the first time with friends and i payed $15 for a bowl, drink and chips. Price didn't really bother me and i know there is inflation and stuff. But the amount of food they put in my bowl was absolutely insane. Should have just gone to chipotle for the same price and they would have filled it up so much more. I don't know if it shows in the picture but the amount of food was ridiculous. View all feedback.
We visited this restaurant last night out of boredom and because we had nothing to eat at home. We were also feeling lazy and didn’t want to cook. My husband had a coupon for a buy one, get one free deal, which was perfect. Normally, I prefer Chipotle, but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options at Freebirds. I especially enjoyed the vegan chorizo and appreciated the wide selection of sauces available. Unlike Chipotle, Freebirds offers a much greater variety when it comes to sauces. Since we opted for takeout, I didn’t have the chance to fully experience the ambience of the restaurant, but everyone there was very friendly. I would definitely return, as the menu caters well to various dietary restrictions and needs, making it an overall healthy choice. Plus, the bowls are quite large; I found that mine lasted for more than one meal.
There was no chicken at all—neither white meat nor dark meat. The staff had a sour attitude, and the atmosphere felt flat. Overall, it was just disappointing!
I would give this place zero stars if I could. I'm now facing food poisoning after waiting 30 minutes for a burrito that wasn't cooked properly.
I discovered Freebirds in the early '90 's, years before they came to Austin, and I was hooked. I 'm pretty sure they 're the only reason I survived college. When they finally opened up in Austin, I was over the moon, and the Hancock restaurant became my favorite. But then they did away with the taxes-included-in-prices bit (thanks, Oklahoma). And they stopped with the punch-cards that could net you a free t-shirt. Prices kept going up, and quality fell behind as they started adding way too many options to the menu and trying to be less weird and more fancy. And finally they did away with my beloved wheat tortilla. It came back briefly, but the reprieve didn 't last long, and my burrito 's just not the same without it. To completely ruin my life, though, they started forcing guacamole on those of us who don 't want meat in our burritos. I was feeling nostalgic and decided I could deal with their inferior tortilla options just this once, and I made the mistake of ordering the same burrito I 'd been ordering for 30 years; only this time I didn 't want to leave the sofa. To my horror, every inch of my once favorite burrito was contaminated with green mush (aka guacamole). According to the delivery app, menus are provided by the stores, and this menu said nothing about ruining everything with guacamole. Fortunately, the delivery app people have me a full refund, but no amount of therapy is going to wipe the trauma of biting into a mush-filled tortilla. We had some good years, Freebirds, but I 'm afraid I 'm gonna have to file for divorce. I hardly recognize you anymore, and I just can 't handle your betrayal.
Travis was super helpful and knowledgeable about everything on the menu and helped me make the perfect bowl. I had only been to Freebirds once a long time ago and him taking my order turned what would have been an okay visit into a great one. Thanks for the great service Travis!
