I've never had a bad experience here and I wish I lived closer to frequent the Cafe more regularly like I once did. A great spot for a date/conversation as well.

During our latest visit, the fried pickles stood out—they were thin, crispy, chip-style, and absolutely delicious. The cocktail sauce is a personal favorite of mine; I make sure to order it every time I come. I highly recommend this spot for the tasty food, friendly and attentive staff, and the weekend music.

The... read more We started our meal with fried pickles and a cup of gumbo. The fried pickles were enjoyable—nothing out of the ordinary, but who doesn't love fried pickles? The gumbo was quite good, although it leaned a bit on the watery side; still, it was some of the best I've had in Austin. For my main course, I chose a shrimp po'boy. While the basic ingredients were good, the shrimp had a rather strong fishy flavor, which was a letdown. Overall, it was decent, but not something I would rave about. In conclusion, it’s a solid little restaurant. I’d give it a rating of 3.5 out of 5.
