Chi'lantro - Austin
Chi'lantro
Description
Chi'Lantro offers an intriguing Korean-Mexican fusion menu that garners mixed reviews among diners. While some patrons enjoy the flavor-packed dishes and customizable options, others express dissatisfaction with the inattentive and occasionally rude service. The atmosphere is generally cozy and relaxed, making it suitable for a quick lunch, but the inconsistency in staff communication and the removal of local discounts have disappointed regulars. Despite these issues, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the quality of certain items, like the Umma's Salad and noodle bowls, hold appeal for both locals and visitors alike.

I had a strong craving for authentic Korean food, so I was excited to try this Korean BBQ-inspired chain. I ordered their specialty, Kimchi Fries, which they proudly advertise as a "Texas Favorite" and claim to be the original creators of this dish. It's possible they did invent it. When the dish arrived, it looked appetizing, but the taste was disappointing. The beef was tough, cold, and bland. I had expected the kimchi to be flavorful and spicy, but it fell flat. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing, and, unfortunately, I can’t say it was good. However, I noticed that many others enjoy this place, so perhaps I just visited on a bad day. I do want to commend the staff—they were incredibly friendly and helpful, which is the only reason I am not giving a lower rating.
The food was outstanding and bursting with flavor! I truly enjoyed the harmony between the spices and the meat. The staff were welcoming, the dining area was spotless, and overall, the dishes were simply delicious!
Cliff is an ineffective general manager with the worst customer service I've ever experienced. After my encounter with him and his team, I won't be going back to Chi? Lantro. I used to really enjoy this place, but I can no longer recommend it. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I also have a video documenting my experience that I intend to share soon. Thank you, and I hope your day is going better than mine was with Cliff.
My boss recommended the kimchi fries while I visit here. It was really good! Couldn't have too much of it as the sweetness was a little much for me after awhile but highly recommend! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
