Bt2 - Austin
Bt2
Description
A longtime local gay bar with a welcoming, low-key vibe, affordable drinks, regular drag shows and a diverse crowd. The spacious but oddly arranged interior features an oversized central bar, communal unisex restrooms and a smoking patio; weekends and event nights are lively. Recent complaints cite pervasive odors, heavy cigarette and open drug use on the porch, occasional surly bartenders and lax management/security. Good for budget-minded LGBTQ+ patrons, tourists and drag fans; avoid if you’re smoke- or odor-sensitive or expecting upscale service.
Feedback
BT2 is an outstanding venue where you can truly be yourself while enjoying fantastic drag performances. The bar is always prepared to whip up your favorite drinks, the entertainers know how to deliver an incredible show, and the ambiance is simply wonderful! With a spacious layout and friendly patrons, it's a great place to be!
I celebrated my 32nd birthday this past weekend and had an amazing time! I enjoyed it so much that I'm planning to go back again tomorrow. The atmosphere was fantastic, and they host different events every day without any issues or drama. The bartender was very cool and friendly as well. I would give it a 5-star rating, but I want to experience it a couple more times first. Nevertheless, I'm definitely going back tomorrow!
I've been visiting this bar for many years and have always appreciated the fantastic staff. However, for the past two months, there's been a terrible smell permeating the place. I've mentioned it several times, but unfortunately, nothing has been done to address the issue. If you're sensitive to odors, I recommend looking for another spot. They really need to improve in that area.
It's a fantastically open and welcoming place for all walks of the LGBTQ community. It's a hotspot known for great drinks at reasonable prices, friendly staff, drag nights every other Friday, gogo dancers, and public health sponsorship. They have two group unisex bathrooms which may be a little off-putting towards less secure people, though we've never had any issues with the experience and consider it to be forward looking. Smoking is available on the back patio, and volleyball courts are there for public use. Gay, straight, trans, or questioning, it's a great location to meet friendly people.
I was staying at the hotel next door and ended up here because the restaurants nearby were overbooked. Staff was really friendly, drinks were cheap, and atmosphere was low key and pleasant. Realized I was not the target demographic after I ordered the second. I'd come back. Everyone there was awesome.
