This was my first time at this restaurant and it was amazing! The best Puerto Rican food in Austin. I even told Chago himself how good the food was. I had Chago's Pernil Asado, Monfongo with garlic oil chicken and Piña Colada... so delicious! The staff was welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be coming back because I am blown away by Lil Chago and the incredible food they serve. View all feedback.
The mofongo with creole sauce was delicious and flavorful, with a hint of sweetness. It was even better than I remembered the traditional dish being. Unfortunately, there were no vegan options listed on the menu, but they may have options available if you ask. It was disappointing that I couldn't try the gandule or baptism (pork) dishes.
Very friendly environment and wonderful service! Had the vegetarian paella, while others at my table had the Yucafongo and the Jibarito sandwich. The flan de queso and tembleque are to die for! Best sangría since arriving from Puerto Rico! Will definitely return!
This has consistently been our favorite date night place for years, and we often take visitors and new comers to Austin here. The setting is homely and we've often interacted with the owners here. They're fun people, and it reflects in the vibe of the restaurant and more importantly, the food. Since I'm a vegetarian, my favorite for years is the Paella Vegetariana, and now they have many more vegetarian and vegan options (like trifongo) to the menu. Just ask. You cannot leave until you've had their desserts- the flan tembleque and tres leche cake are highly recommended! Do dine in if you can, and you'll be happy to have found this hidden gem in Austin, with upbeat music!
The waitress was very kind and attentive. I ordered the sancocho and it truly came out amazing! The house made sangria is definitely a must! Thank you for having us!
