What Kathy F doesn't like about Pumpkin Hill Bistro:
Not the same since Cookie left. Have been there 3 times, just trying to give it a chance and every time we have been disappointed. Between the food and service.I try not to compare it with when Cookie was there. but it is hard not to. It is such a beautiful location and we love taking friends there but I am afraid to go again. They just can't seem to get it together, View all feedback.
Words cannot sum up how amazing this place in. Located at a just 5 mins drive from Aurora Inn this is a place to just leave your worries behind and soak in the beauty this place has to offer. We reached there at the time of twilight and it was spectacular. It's a huge place with various rooms of indoor eating areas, outside seating on the patio, tent seating and there was even a bonfire in the laws with chairs spears around it. We chose to be seated at the patio as we wanted to enjoy the scenery around with vineyards in the background and that Bon fire lighting. The hostess was friendly and warm as she made us taste various wines before we finally ordered a bottle of a sweet white wine. For dinner I had the best roof vegetable salad with Ricotta cheese which had a melange of root veggies like carrots, parsnips, beets etc. while my husband had some veg cakes which came with a sweet corn salad. We rounded off the meal with a home made banana cake with blow torched bananas which were just out of the world. We wanted to stay a bit longer but the place closes down a bit early around (9,10). But definitely a huge Thumbs up for this farm kitchen!!
Wow. Great find. I was super surprised with this nice little place. For starters the location is beautiful. The landscape is breathtaking. For the appetizer we ordered a trio of tapenade and flatbread. What a way to start. It was Delicioso. I had the Cuban sandwich with caramelized onions. Man it was so good. My mouth is watering and I just had dinner. The attention to detail. My wife had the burger. Off the hook. For dessert the carrot cake in a cup was awesome. Overall experience was A. Must go to this restaurant if you are in the area. Will not be disappointed.
Great place, great food, great atmosphere. Pumpkin Hill is my favorite restaurant in the Finger Lakes district. HOWEVER: they are no longer open to the public. Quote from their website: Thank you for your loyalty and dedication to Pumpkin Hill Vineyard. We are changing things up for the 2017 season. Pumpkin Hill Vineyard is transitioning into a special event venue only. This sucks I wish that they would at least open once a week to the public.
I had such a great experience at Pumpkin Hill Bistro. I was visiting several local wineries with some friends, and we decided to start the afternoon with some good food. We were not disappointed! The menu is thoughtful and well executed. I had the autumn soup, which used pumpkin as a base. It was fantastic really well done. For my main I had an omlette/fritatta that was very good and artfully presented. As good as the food is, the decor is really what makes this such a special experience. We sat upstairs, which had great light and cozy atmosphere. You really feel like you are in a someones farm house. Their wine list has many local varieties, and our waitress was really sweet. If it wasn't for the longer drive from Cornell (about 35 minutes) I would recommend it to friends looking for a place to celebrate any special occasion. Given that we visited in October, I can't wait to return when its warm out!
I decided to stop in for lunch after a long hot day at the Mckenzie Childs annual sale. I had read the good reviews for awhile now and they were open during the day for this 4 day event. It is a very rustic, quaint house that has two floors. It seems like they make every inch of space available for searing. I did not go upstairs but the downstairs can seat maybe 30? There was a small bar area that had about 6 beers on tap it looked like. I was excited to see what the special menu would be, but I was sorely disappointed. It was at least 90 degrees that day and the only cold item on menu was a salad. Everything else was a hot dinner, like fish, steak and chicken. So we decided to order the salad and the waitress said they sold out (at 2:30 pm). She said she would see what she could do. So she advised us we could have a capris salad with heirloom tomatoes and balsamic dressing. I asked if she could add the bacon and candied nuts from sold out salad and she said she would. When our salad came it was just a small amount of mixed greens (made to look big on plate) with heirloom tomatoes, small mozerella balls, the dressing and side of bacon and nuts. While the salad was very good, at a price point of 13.00, I should not be hungry when I leave. There were a few choices of alcoholic beverages available, beer/wine but the beer was not what I saw on draft and the drinks were around $7-12.00. So this place may be good for dinner on a cool day, it was not a go to for a cool (or hardy meal) on a hot day.
