Went here on a Saturday night. First guidance, do an online reservation. Otherwise you’re waiting for 40 minutes. We were okay waiting because we assumed if it was so busy it must be great. Our server, Alec, was wonderful. Highly attentive and great attitude on a busy Saturday night. Our son had spaghetti and meatballs, my husband had the Ravioli and I had the Gretchen’s pasta. We wanted to love the food. The bread was good. However, all 3 main dishes were very bland. Done something I’ve never had to do at an Italian restaurant, put salt and pepper on my dinner. Basil, garlic, oregano are all missing from our meals. Won’t come back because even though the service was great, the food isn’t worth the money. Which is sad for the #21 restaurant in Aurora.
We were there for dinner with a party of 7 and a baby. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. The service was great. We all enjoyed our meals, and we had plenty of food to take home because the portions were large. I recommend this restaurant!
This is a rarity for me. I loved it all. Great service and great food. The bread was so good, served warm. My server Robert suggested Shrimp Sassolino, and I’d recommend it, too. Awesome flavor. For a drink, the strawberry Italian cream soda brought it all together. I’ll be back.
I 've been eating Italian food all my life. My father 's mother was 100% Italian and his father was 50% and we 're from the East Coast, first Philly and then Tampa Bay. The Italian restaurants that I went to on the East Coast were all very traditional Italian. After moving to Denver I came to the tough realization that most Italian restaurants are pretty lousy and not worth going to here. The typical Italian restaurants here in Colorado seem to offer nothing but tomato sauce, or tomato sauce, or again tomato sauce. And not much else than your typical pasta dishes and pizza. And many times not a real seafood dish on the menu. Talk about disappointing! The typical Italian restaurant out East has a great variety of sauces to offer, not just tomato based sauces. For instance, pesto, olive oil garlic, several different Alfredo/cream types, Milano (creamy whole grain mustard sauce), pear, lemon white wine, Marsala cream, white clam, Agaliata, Savore Sanguino, lemon caper, Vincotto are just some of the great non-tomato sauces and creations that you 'll find in your typical Italian restaurants out East. A good, real Italian restaurant bases at the most maybe 30% of all their sauces and dishes are tomato based. Here in Colorado the average seems to be more like 90%! Plus many of those restaurants out East have lots of seafood to choose from as well. When I mention to a Colorado native that I really miss all the Italian seafood dishes from the East, I have heard people say, Italian food doesn 't have much seafood to it. What a silly thing to think! Seafood is the main protein of Italy! Look at Italy! It is nearly an island and seafood is a huge part of Italian cuisine. Needless to say I was at a total lost when I first started looking for real Italian restaurants in the Denver Metro area. After several decades looking, there are basically only three that I have found so far in Colorado. One of those three is The Bent Noodle, having gone there now four times in 2018, three of those times using a Groupon voucher. The Bent Noodle is a nice, casual kind of place tucked away on Dartmouth Avenue between Parker Road and Havana Street. On this evening I arrived there late as I was watching Bama kick some Sooners butts, so I walked in there 15 minutes before closing. This however was no problem as I was greeted promptly and courteously and there were still a few people eating and chatting away. Within a minute or two of being seated you are brought some warm, freshly baked bread. There is a bottle of olive oil on every table. When I was a kid my parents would spend all day making a batch of marinara and then maybe some manicotti or lasagna and it was excellent, but as I got into my twenties I started to become allergic to cooked tomato. Now I have to avoid it as much as possible. That makes it so much more important that I find Italian restaurants that have many types of sauces other than tomato based. The Bent Noodle has a good array of both appetizers and salads. There 's eleven different salads to choose from! Of all the nice apps they offer I have to recommend the Pear Fiocchi. I quote from their menu: Purse-shaped pasta, filled with Italian cheeses and pear. Served with a brown butter and sage sauce, and topped with toasted almonds. OMG! This is just an amazing dish! Mind you, it is a meal in itself and a perfect app to share. It is very delicious and almost like a pasta dessert. It is served as a hot dish. Another nice thing about this establishment is that if they are not busy, you 're able to mix things up a little, which is important when you want to avoid a sauce but not the dish itself. As far as Italian restaurants in Colorado goes, you might have a tough finding another Milano sauce as tasty as The Bent Noodle 's. Milano is a creamy whole grain mustard sauce. It 's the perfect topping for many a pasta creations. Tonight I decided on their Ravioli Di Formaggio, which is Pasta pillows stuffed with basil, ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. The ravioli was perfect and the Milano s
