What Pamela Brown doesn't like about Chickie's Pete's:
The food was delicious, and although our server wasn't outstanding, we still left a tip of over 20% since it was New Year's Eve. The crab legs were decent, but a bit pricey. View all feedback.
On July 3, 2024, we decided to have dinner at this restaurant since we were staying at the Tropicana. Our waitress was courteous, but she seemed a bit distracted despite there not being too many patrons. The Flyin' Hawaiian cocktail was enjoyable, though it tasted low on alcohol for me since I’m not much of a drinker. We learned that it has a sweet liquor, which might explain it. The Sticky Lobster was delicious, and the Blue Crabs, while small, had excellent seasoning. It was quite messy to eat but fun! The Housemade Ricotta Donuts were absolutely fantastic! I actually wanted to go back just to grab more donuts before heading home, but I ended up forgetting. I also heard we missed out on the crab fries, so we’ll definitely have to try those on our next visit to the area.
I can't believe I’ve never written a review for this place! My husband and I are regulars when we're at the Trop or just in Atlantic City in general. The kitchen stays open late, which is perfect for a late-night bite. This visit was on a Friday for dinner. Our server was a bit slow, but he was clearly busy and made up for it with his friendly attitude. We ordered drinks, an appetizer of crab fries, my husband had the snack-sized nuggets, and I tried the Milanese sandwich. I think this sandwich is fantastic! It’s lightly dressed, packed with arugula, has a nice crispy chicken, and comes on a seeded roll. The Phillies game was on while we enjoyed our meal, making the experience even better.
Overall, it was quite a decent experience. The food was enjoyable, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a sports bar. I tried the lobster fries, which were okay (3.5/5). It seemed like they held back on the sauce; there was just a small drizzle in the middle, and the sides were completely dry. However, the flavors were good. The club sandwich was more on the average side (3/5); it didn’t have anything particularly memorable. I would have appreciated it more if they had added extra sauce. When I opened the bun, I was surprised at how little sauce there was. As for the seafood sauté, I gave it a 3.5/5—it was tasty and flavorful, but it didn’t leave me in awe.
Located along the boardwalk with stunning views, dining here is a delight, especially with the excellent air conditioning. The food is consistently amazing, and the portions are incredibly generous. We tried the buffalo chicken nachos and the seafood in white wine, both of which were fantastic. The service is top-notch, and the drinks are potent. This is what I call a winning experience in Atlantic City!
This is probably the first time I can say that the service here was prompt. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. While the portions were generous, it's hard to appreciate quick service when you're served a bucket of flavorless slop. We started with a large plate of nachos (the B Dawk nachos), and they were just fine; I only wish we had stopped there. I ordered a crab cake that tasted like unseasoned Stove Top stuffing, with no hint of crab at all. My husband opted for a seafood pasta dish that was enormous, but again, it lacked flavor and seafood. Suffice it to say, we won't be returning. A menu overhaul is definitely needed for the better.
