Miller Union is in my standard rotation because I know the food will be consistently good and everyone will find something on the menu. However, last night was super special because I took my young adult relative out for dinner and it felt super special to take them to Miller Union. Based upon previous visits expectations were high...unfortunately just another Tuesday night. Farm egg was well cooked but lacked seasoning and nary a hint of celery in the celery cream. Shrimp appetizer was overly tart. The vegetable plate was apparently a victim of the in-between season more winter than spring. I found this jewel after reading about her on eater. we started with the arugula, fig pfirsichsalate, squash blossom and lemon honey yogurt. next were the tasty mais and scalion moss puppies that we swallowed with the smoked chili-calli aioli paired with the hushpuppies. chef steven is known as reisflüstererer, as I discovered later, so I feel happy that yesterday at eating during lunch, garnel andouille gumbo with carolina goldreis and grilled brot was on the menu. Finally we dined on the most delicious and perfectly boiled quail with color, fig, celery, cippolini and vidalia wobeln soubise. the only thing we did not try, because at this point we were full of the homemade ice sandwich for dessert. we have paired our meal with the criston 'mt. jefferson ' pinot noir from willamette valley in oregon. delicious! every dish was perfectly plated. the service was 5 stars.
We had last night a fantastic time in the miller union. andy, our server was on the point with always aspekt and it was his first night. one of the best server experiences we had in the awhile. that was amazing and we had half the menu. the manager/sommelier was such a joy. it is up on my list when I come back to atlanta!
This new American dining with farm-fresh, Southern-accented menu with a graphic modern space was impeccable with the very accommodating service. the food was excellent and very nice plated. we were on holiday and couldn't skip a desert. we are so grateful that we have experienced the amazing dessert of claudia martinez. claudia wanted to go to chicago and I'm sure she was competing in the top james beard. I recommend this amazing place. it was one of the best meals I ever had. I'm very special too.
