Pizzería Della Madonna

The service was good, we were attended to quickly and kindly. As for the place, I feel that it is in a great area therefore it is cozy. As for the food, I expected more, it's not bad but more is expected from such a famous pizzeria in the neighborhood, plus the chef's pizza didn't convince me at all, I wouldn't order it again! During the celebration of Pride in CDMX, I encountered an unfortunate and disheartening experience at Pizzeria della Madonna that left me and my friend deeply hurt when we were discriminated against. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we noticed the seating arrangement included tables with a chair on one side and a bench on the other. We opted to sit together on the bench side, enjoying each other 's company while awaiting our order. Everything seemed fine at first. However, after waiting an unreasonable 40 minutes for our pizzas, a waiter approached us with a perplexing request from his boss: we were not allowed to sit like this and were instructed to sit separately, one on the chair and the other on the bench. This request struck me as absurd and unnecessary, as we were not causing any disruption or inconvenience to anyone. Feeling both upset and confused, we decided to leave and asked for our food to go. When my friend voiced my frustration to the restaurant manager, he was met with a dismissive and discriminatory attitude. He initially claimed that state regulations required a certain distance between tables, which was not only irrelevant but also blatantly false since we were not in the State of Mexico. His excuses quickly unraveled as baseless, and his condescending remark implied that any other interpretation was my fault, further revealing his discriminatory intent. To make matters worse, as we exited, we noticed other tables where customers sat shoulder to shoulder without issue. This confirmed my suspicion that the manager 's actions were not about any regulations but rather an unjust bias against two men sitting together in his establishment. In the middle of 2024, and especially during Pride Weekend, it is appalling that such discrimination still exists. Pizzeria della Madonna 's behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply offensive. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment, as no one should have to endure such treatment.
