My partner worked at their restaurant for about a year, during which Stephen would frequently manipulate and threaten the staff, using their job as leverage. When my partner decided to leave on her own terms, they refused to pay her the holiday pay she had earned. Despite multiple efforts to resolve the matter, they would not answer her calls. It was clear from the start, when Stephen insisted on paying her off the books in cash, that the business was not being run professionally. One would expect better behavior from someone with Stephen's background as a lawyer.
