this restaurant was an unplanned stop on the way through athlone and we are so glad we stopped here. the images do not do justice to this place. it lies directly at the river. eating is absolutely fantastic and the servers are incredibly nice. our family (with two young children) has absolutely loved our eating and eating experience. we would stop here again if we were ever in the Athlone area. absolutely wonderful c... Bacchus is conveniently situated near the bridge, offering a stunning view if you sit by the windows. The service and atmosphere were excellent. However, we felt the food was somewhat pricey considering the portion sizes. The kebab could use a bit more sauce to better complement the rice, as it was a bit bland otherwise. Came here couple of time. Good for birthday celebrations or just a casual dinner. Food and service always great. Staff friendly and nothing is too much for them. Wide range of dishes on the menu. Lovely view of the river. Lovely to sit on the balcony on a nice day.
We went for dinner over Christmas to Bacchus as we were staying in a hotel near by. Everything about the experience was top class. The table with the river views, the décor and the lovely warm welcome we got from the staff. We also had the early bird menu though it was just after 19.00.The food was beautiful, different and very tasty and great value for money with a three course early bird menu for €34.50. Also a bottle of new Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for under €30 is great value. We cannot wait to go back! This restaurant deserves all the business it gets and more. Highly recommend, you wont be disappointed
