The three bartenders—Mit... read more Shokitini is hands down the best restaurant in all of Athens! I usually sit at the bar when I drop by, which is about 2-3 times a week. The three bartenders—Mitch, Tim, and Evelyn—are absolutely fantastic. They are, without a doubt, the best bartenders in town. They provide exceptional service and treat you like an old friend. They always make me feel warm and welcome. Truly, they are the best of the best. The food is amazing as well! I've never had a bad meal there, which is just another reason why I keep returning. Enjoying dinner at Shokitini is definitely one of the highlights of my week. I'm really going to miss this place when I graduate from UGA and move away from Athens.

We... read more We chose to sit at the sushi bar based on a friend's suggestion. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary salad and a fried mushroom puff with tuna. We ordered the sushi dinner for two, priced at $49.95, and noted in our special request that we love eel but are open to trying new dishes. Our meal included an extra ginger salad and miso soup. Sitting at the sushi bar was such a unique experience; we were right in front of the sushi chef as he prepared our food. He checked in on us while we were eating, and we got to compliment him on how delicious everything was. The variety of sushi we received was wonderful, with our favorites being the BBQ eel, conch, albacore, salmon, and yellowtail. The tuna and red snapper were decent but not as standout. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, with the conch having a nice firm texture and the BBQ eel being simply delightful. My husband particularly enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll and the double punch roll. We concluded our meal with some complimentary fried Oreos. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar—it's an excellent way to enjoy fabulous food and fantastic service. We had an absolutely delightful time!

To our surprise, we were treated to a complimentary salad and a fried mushroom puff with tuna as an appetizer. We ordered the sushi dinner for two, priced at $49.95, and mentioned in the special request box that we love eel but are also open to trying new dishes. The meal included an extra ginger salad and miso soup. Sitting right in front of the sushi chef was a unique experience. He checked in on us during our meal, and we had the chance to tell him how much we enjoyed everything. The sushi platter was a delightful assortment, with our favorites being the BBQ eel, conch, albacore, salmon, and yellowtail. The tuna and red snapper were okay but didn't stand out as much. All the fish tasted incredibly fresh and delightful, with the conch having a lovely firm texture and the BBQ eel being particularly tasty. We sat at the sushi bar and got complimentary appetizers and desserts which was nice. The only thing I did not like was I found 3 hairs in mysushi roll. They were not my own, as I pulled them out of the inside of the roll in 2 different places (gross I know). The rollwas taken off my bill, so they were accommodating about it. Still just grossed me out. There needs to be beard nets orsomething.

Room reservation process was easy, just make sure you reserve with plenty of time in advance because they're very popular. Our room server Frances was very attentive, keptthe drinks coming and was super nice and personable. The only thing I didn't care for was that I told them our party would bedining after we were done in the room to which they said they would take care of getting us a table. When we came out of thekaraoke room, no arrangements had been made and it would have taken another 40 minutes to get a table for our party. Just aminor oversight.
