Description

Plus 1 Pizza in Athens offers a mixed bag of experiences, reflecting a decline in quality that contrasts with its earlier reputation. While some patrons continue to praise its unique flavors, friendly service, and reasonable prices, others express disappointment with the pizza’s greasiness, inconsistent toppings, and soggy subs. Increased prices and diminished portion sizes have led loyal customers to reconsider their choices. Yet, dedicated fans still recognize the appeal of supporting a local business and appreciate the occasional culinary delight, like the breadsticks. Ultimately, the restaurant remains a topic of conversation in Athens, embodying the challenges of maintaining quality in a competitive market.

I recommended this restaurant over some of the more popular spots in the area, but I did face a few issues. There were too many large chunks of garlic sprinkled throughout the dishes, and the food felt overly greasy. Additionally, I was let down by the square pizza slice, as I think pizza should traditionally be served in a triangle shape. I still have some hope for this restaurant and would like to see improvements. If you can snag a good deal, it might be worth trying it out.

I was very disappointed with the pizza I ordered from this restaurant. I tried the Cowboy BBQ pizza, and it was incredibly greasy—so much so that grease was dripping off it as I took it out of the box. The sauce didn’t reach the edges of the crust, leaving the last few bites of each slice dry. The cheese had hardened into an odd lump that came off all at once, and the fresh cilantro on top looked wilted and unappealing. I also sampled the brownies, which were chocolatey but did not have the gooey texture I was hoping for. Overall, I cannot recommend either the pizza or the brownies from this restaurant.

I was quite disappointed with my recent experiences at Plus 1 Pizza in Athens. I had been a loyal customer for over five years, ordering from them multiple times each month. However, I've noticed a significant decline in both the quality and quantity of their food over the past year. Prices have also risen sharply, surpassing those of other restaurants in the area. They've started charging extra for crust toppers and drizzles on their pizzas. Their web specials have seen a considerable price increase as well, going from $6.49 for two medium pizzas to $9.99 each. With added toppings, the cost can reach up to $12 per pizza—almost double the price from just a year ago. While we still enjoy their spaghetti, we've observed a reduction in the amount of parmesan cheese served and the overall portion sizes. Additionally, the management seems to be under pressure, making them less friendly toward customers who raise concerns about their orders.

I wish I knew it earlier! During my junior and senior year before graduation I would always buy my pizza from Dominios, although that was a mistake considering how much better in taste and quality plus 1 pizza, I think it is fair to say that they are one of the top dogs when it comes to the pizza industry here in Athens and the costs are very reasonable! It is also nice to support your local businesses and not these big companies.
