What a hidden gem! There are so many Asheville based restaurants on OpenTable and I rely on OpenTable for everything. This restaurant was awesome. Great food and service. No one was there! Two tables and that was it. Sure its not on the main strip on Broadway, but I recommend making the stop. View all feedback.
What Aliya Raynor doesn't like about Writer's Bistro at the Renaissance:
The waiter was incompetent, pushy with upselling, and rude and slow to bring requested items. The food was average at best, with excessive sauces and stale-tasting tortillas. Not recommended! View all feedback.

It was a disappointing meal for a number of reasons. First we were told that there would be a 45 minute wait for food from the kitchen because they had a large table that was overwhelming the kitchen. Since we didn't think we could get last minute reservations elsewhere, we decided to stay. We ordered salads which it was thought might be simpler for the staff to handle. They came in a reasonable time and we were told we could safely order entrees so we did. They came immediately we were still eating our salads. The food got cold.... when were asked if we were pleased with our meal, we expressed our disappointment. After a while a young man asked us again. He walked away while we were still talking. We later were told he was the manager. The food was fine, I imagine, if it was warm. The staff was polite but they seemed very ill prepared to run a fine food establishment.
Excellent brunch--food was wonderful, and the service was was awesome. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The true high point of this restaurant is the staff, friendly and attentive. If you were staying in the hotel and were looking for a quick place to eat, I could recommend the Writer's Bistro. The food was plated nicely but was just average in taste and a little over priced.
This was the restaurant in our hotel and we ate here one night out of convenience The place was dead at 7:00 PM.
