We have always liked Tupelo Honey's food and eat at the one in Raleigh or Asheville several times a year. Never had bad service or a bad meal and most of the time both are excellent. Wife had salmon and I had mahi mahi last night and both were good. Highlight was the crispy fried potatoes. View all feedback.
Food was excellent, as always, but our service was some of the worst I've had in a long time. It wasn't very busy but we had a reservation and we were sat right away. After waiting about 15 minutes with no one coming to the table for our drink order, we flagged down the hostess who told us she forgot to tell our server we were there. At that time, the hostess took our initial drink order and then never got our drinks, which was only water and a Diet Coke. Once our server finally came over, we ordered our food and a cocktail. I watched my cocktail sit at the bar for about 10 minutes before another server finally checked the ticket and brought it over. After we got our food, our server didn't stop back to check on us until well after we finished our meal and were waiting on the check. By the time she came over, we had been done eating for 15-20 minutes. We were never even asked for a refill on our waters. Our consolation was a comped appetizer, which was appreciated, but I wouldn't say it made up for the horrible service. We'll certainly eat at Tupelo Honey again but probably not this location.

Arrived for our reservation. Sounded and resembled a Chuck E Cheese or day care, children literally running around and noise level was similar to an energetic soccer game. We were seated after 2 attempts by the hostess who was dealing with a customer they evidently did not like their seating assignment; maybe noise or dampness from a recent rain storm...unsure. We were seated and initially the ambiance was great, very typical for TH. But service was sporadic and food was good not great. Then a party of 4 arrived and it was a mixture of them deciding who was going to sit where, next to who, followed by just generally loud speaking to the point of distracting. Not sure if this was a case of “first time they have gone some where to eat” or “they are just those people the have to be heard and are awkward”. All in all decent experience but not typical for TH.
Visited 8/26/2024 3:30 pm. I don’t even know where to start with this review. Walking in the restaurant the 1st experience is with the hostess. She is not friendly we were not greeted. Young woman with glasses a little added color to her hair. She just walked us to a table. Ordered fried pickles pimento cheese dip to start. Pickles were soggy cold. Dip was ok. I ordered Mahi Mahi with collards Mac cheese. The Mahi was rubbery. The Mac cheese was bland. The collards were decent, but also under seasoned. Banana pudding for desert was a massive bowl of cool whip with a little bit of pudding. Couldn’t eat it. It was like foam in my mouth. Indoor seating, but they had the entire restaurant open on a 90 degree day. Flies were everywhere. It was humid. Even the staff hanging out at the host stand while our drinks were not refilled were fanning themselves. If I wanted to sit outside I would have requested outdoor seating. Overall bad experience. I visited their location in Virginia a year ago it was fabulous, which is why I tried this one. Will not be back. Not at all the same. A waste of money for an awful experience.
Consistent great food, service and value. We highly recommend Tupelo Honey.
