Old school. I can't imagine that this place has changed very much in the 45 years since it first opened its doors. The prices are cheap, the food is simple and the characters sitting in the stands all know each other names. I usually met greasy spoons like this for breakfast, but the Misses was craving a lamb gyro that we have found to be quite interchangeable in the whole city, so we thought we could also give The Med (as his lovingly called the city) an attempt. I mean as a sandwich while the lady had the record. What can I say? The frits were hot and the gyro tasted like an Asheville gyro. Ms. McStyles praised her Greek salad and also enjoyed the lambs. We took a look at their breakfast menu and agreed that it deserves your own visit. Altogether a place to the earth to pack some simple food on the cheap. Recommended.
Νόστιμος (nostimos). Love the delicious spices on the lamb for my gyro. The sauce and vegetables were a great combination with the fresh pita.
Long time Favorite. One of the oldest restaurants in downtown, perhaps the oldest. Good consistent food, breakfast is great, prices are Fab. Home cooking, nothing imagination.
The best breakfast / brunch I had in a while. Visited Tuesday morning after Christmas and waited for about 45 minutes. I would highly recommend sitting in the bar as seeing the cooks/cooks work is great. Service is great and food is amazing. I had the catfish and grits together with collar and it was! Would definitely return for a future visit to Asheville.
The food was worth the wait! Home cooked style diner breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Customers were coming in left and right. Would definitely dine here again.
