El Chapala - Asheville

Look, there's nothing cutting edge here, nothing flashy, but these are good people, long time Candlerites, and they want to make you happy. The interior is typical American/Mexican cantina, with fun touches to keep your interest. The food is inexpensive and fills your belly just fine. The service is the best part about this place super friendly and lightening fast every time. Olé, baby!

The aesthetic is a typical American Mexican restaurant aesthetic, very clean and lots of tables and booths. There's a fairly recently added extra room with a nicely lit bar as well. The prices and portions are excellent for this area as are the beer prices. The staff is always very friendly and efficient you. NEVER have to wait more than a few minutes at max (even on crazy busy days like Cinco De Mayo). My wife always gets the shredded chicken chimichangas, she can't imagine eating chimichangas anywhere else. I usually get the Mexican style tacos, and they offer a slightly deep fried jalapeño for adding to your dish (highly recommended). We eat here at least once a week, you will enjoy it!

Great food and even better people working here. I'm truly going to miss this place when I relocate.

Stopped in for dinner last night and had a great experience. The service was great, it was clean, and the food was delicious! The margaritas could've been stronger. We will definitely be back!

Delicious! My husband and I just tried this restaurant for the first time today and it did not disappoint. At every Mexican restaurant We always get Fajitas for 2 and finish it because they aren't always very big portions but here it was massive! We did not finish it! Very reasonably priced as well!
