Food focused fun. Don’t come expecting a steak or whole fish. The grazing style menu was perfect for an over-fed Asheville weekend. Carefully prepared, creative and absolutely delicious. Love the groovy bathrooms too. View all feedback.
What M John doesn't like about Cultura:
I'm baffled by all the positive reviews. The service was incredibly slow, and the food was laughably bad and overpriced. I'm really glad I opted for an à la carte item instead of the $125 tasting menu. The menu is truly innovative and distinctive. The dishes are delicious, though somewhat limited. The drinks are fantastic, and the service is impeccable.
I recommend arriving early. The menu is limited, and by the time we arrived for our 8 PM reservation, they had already run out of all the evening’s entrees. Unfortunately, we found this out only after we were seated, had drinks, and began ordering from the food menu. The only option offered to us was braised rabbit, which wasn’t listed on the menu. We also expected oysters, but they never arrived, likely because they were sold out too—our server seemed hesitant to break the news. On the plus side, the cheese and scallops were enjoyable, and the drinks were good. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience in a town with many excellent restaurants.
We had a great experience at the bar, where the bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly, making it enjoyable to discuss drinks with them. Afterward, we moved to a table for dinner and had a wonderful meal. While the menu isn't extensive, we appreciated all the options available. The service was outstanding as well. The atmosphere at Vidl is warm, inviting, and distinctive.

The mushroom tart was excessively salty and the crust tasted like cardboard. The corn and shrimp dish was also too salty and a bit too spicy to enjoy. Overall, both meals left us completely dissatisfied. The cocktails were somewhat interesting—not amazing, but at least they had some creativity.
