My sister and I dropped by as she had mentioned that this place had amazing appetizers/small plates. We did a mini food tour in Asbury, and this was our first stop. We ordered the coconut shrimp and the Burrata. The burrata was to die for. The goat horn peppers added the perfect sweet and zing to the burrata. And the bread was toasted and coated in olive oil. Simply AMAZING. We will definitely be back to explore more... View all feedback.
What Julie Furminger doesn't like about The Bonney Read:
Fried food was very greasy (cooked for too long) and almost inedible. Portions were small. I ate here last year and the food was good, but something has changed and I definitely won’t be coming back. View all feedback.

The atmosphere was great and the waitress was fantastic. The food was horrible and ended up making my girlfriends and I stomachs hurt. We ordered the shrimp, tuna and mahi mahi it was all very average.
Specifically asked for the black bean burger and emphasized our religious reasons and dietary constrains. But was still served beef which is against our religion. We asked the waiter multiple times to ensure it would be black bean but still received beef.
Super attentive bartenders on a busy Saturday night. The mussels were one of the best things I ever had.
The restaurant is very nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. However, the food was not good. The prices are very high for the portions that you get. We ordered the calamari, which was overcooked and the tray was a small circular tin that was barely half full. The marinara it came with was very bland and lacking seasoning. The steamed clams were okay. Again, bland, didn 't have any flavor. The lobster bisque was expensive for a small amount and was okay. And the beer mussels.... I don 't know what to say. I 've never had them before and didn 't know what to expect. All I know is that it smelled like fermented ****. My son didn 't even know what happened because he was sitting in the back of the car, but he said why does it smell like pee? It was a huge turn off and made me want to return everything. I don 't know if they 're supposed to smell that way, but it was nasty. They tasted okay, but the mussels were falling apart and some were mushy. I just hope I don 't get food poisoning... overall, the service and atmosphere are nice, but the food was a failure and we won 't be coming back.
