The food was excellent, but the service was incredibly slow. We had to flag down our server and ended up ordering dinner 20 minutes after finishing our appetizers. The seating by the windows was freezing cold, making us put on our winter coats, and we left the seats right next to the windows empty. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Shakou Arlington Heights:
We’re willing to pay for good food, but the service left much to be desired. The servers, particularly the hostess, were quite unpleasant. When I called to make a reservation, she abruptly hung up without even saying goodbye. Upon our arrival, I also got a very unwelcoming vibe from the hostess. It wouldn’t hurt to just smile and ask how our day has been, like a normal person would! View all feedback.
Made a reservation for 7:15 arrived 10 minutes earlier, knowing it was busy. Host staff was all over, not communicating, I was standing in line to check in and the host took care of someone behind me and didn't acknowledge me. We waited until 7:35, (20 minutes after our reservation) when we asked again they told us there were 2 parties ahead of us and not sure how much longer. Sorry, we left and had sushi elsewhere. I have been in the restaurant business for 25 plus years, owning restaurants, this is not how you handle being behind on wait. No management presence that I saw, no one in charge at host stand. There are too many good sushi places to dine at that appreciate your business. They obviously do not care about my business. I will not be back. Only reason I went there was Ramen Shinchan was closed for vacation and figured I would try it out.
The food was so delicious. If your a sushi lover this is a must place to visit. I asked the waiter for his recommendations on appetizers and sushi. He did not disappoint and he was very attentive towards us. I love coming here because it feels like your in the city and the food and drinks are always delicious. It was my friends first time going and she loved it. Definitely coming back.
Absolutely delicious food!! I love love love their signature maki rolls! The service is always amazing, with extremely kind and accommodating servers and staff!

Waited 30 minutes for a table which is reasonable when the restaurant is busy. Then was shown to an indoor table (even though I requested an outdoor table) where the music was so loud that you could only have a shouting match instead of a conversation. Then waited some more for an outdoor table. The host got my attention by saying 'hey Sue '. I didnt want to inform her that I am not Jesu but either Sue or Ma 'am. After we were seated (not at a good table), we asked for the menu. Another 10 minutes past and the host walked by a few times but didnt bother to bring the menu. This was enough unpleasantness for the night, so we left and got sushi elsewhere.
