Thomas Patton is probably the largest server I've ever met. He made sure I was well looked after and was really happy to give a good meal. If you ever dive, make sure to ask him and leave him a gracious tip (he definitely works hard for it)! View all feedback.
Best little jewel in Memphis! Loved the atmosphere, food and service. Just a great feeling of home. It was our first time and we will definitely go back. I had the Catfish Filet, Mac and Cheese and Turnip Greens. The fish was perfectly seasoned, the beets were not bitter and Mac and cheese was creamy. To dessert, I had a piece of Pecan Pier with ice cream. My husband had chicken fried chicken, which was also seasoned for perfection and strawberry shortcake for dessert. All tasted homemade.
Chicken and dumplings are far better than most, although the chicken was some preformed meat that I wouldn't eat. Dumplings are rolled in a tasty gravy. Fresh turnip greens are awesome, closely followed by fresh green beans. Husband had fried okra cooked right and nicely done black eyed peas. Small pieces of cornbread didn't go far. Hubby ordered the Holy Cow cake. Service good. Don't eat the chicken and ask for more cornbread.
After all, I found that the home cooking place that feels like I was back in the time I came in. Food is delicious, service is great, and atmosphere is perfect. Best catfish in the area. Not at breakfast!
Visited this place during my trip from Seattle and was not disappointed! The catfish was seasoned and fried perfectly. Delicious hush puppies and loved the black eyed peas. My parents shared a cow cake and loved it. The service was also stellar. This will definitely be a go to for me when I visit home.
Outstanding! I've never met a hush puppy I liked, until today. Ordered extra for take out. The fried okra was both tender and crisp, as was the cat fish. The BLT was pure comfort food.
