This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants of all time! I have gone to Takohachi probably around 10 times now. Every time the food is so delicious. The cook does an amazing time. We are always so impressed with how authentic the food is! Best Japanese food I?ve had in the US (yes, I?m Japanese). Do yourself a favor and eat here, you won?t be disappointed! What User doesn't like about Takohachi Japanese:
A bit disappointed in the sushi. I recognize to not expect a lot for $1 however 2 (scallop and yellow tail belly) of the 5 were very fishy, the pieces were small and the presentation was a bit messy. We sat at the bar and it was a bit underwhelming. The old location was always fantastic and we used to go 2-3x per month for the 1$ sushi and because the staff was fantastic. We absolutely love coming to Takohachi. We often come once a week. The ramen and sushi are excellent. I love having the bento box. It’s fun to have a variety. We’re lucky to have such a good place right in our neighborhood.Food: 5/5
This has become our favorite Japanese restaurant in Arlington, VA. Great ambiance, friendly staff, and amazing food. We love all their sushi, their bento boxes, and their Japanese curry bowls.Food: 5/5
Offers almost all kinds of Japanese food without specializing in specific. The food we ordered is mediocre. The atmosphere is good, but chairs need to be upgraded.Parking: Free parking for the first hour.
It's well priced, but the tradeoff is there's a lot of rice used to fill out the dishes.They also raised the price from $1 nigiri to $1.50, which is still a pretty fair price, but a 50% increase is kind of steep, especially when it's so rice heavy.
Their sushi prices recently went up to 1.50 but the quality has always remained the same, and that's still very good! Given how post covid Era has hit a lot of businesses, I would gladly still support this local business with the price increase. The workers are really nice and hospitable. The food is always spot on for the price you get, and their lunch menu prices are just top notch given the area its in. Can't beat it! Overall, I enjoy going here at least once a week for their food and cheap draft beers : They even validate your parking!
