I will wager that this is the best Japanese restaurant in the Boston area. I hate saying this because they will become extremely busy but I cannot keep this to myself. They specialize in Japanese dishes beyond the ordinary sushi, curry, ramen, etc. (nothing wrong with those), but you get to expand your tastes and options in fantastic ways. Don’t hesitate to get any sushi dish but you cannot go wrong in the a la carte... View all feedback.
What Rock & Soul Music Bar doesn't like about Sushi Kappo Toraya:
Worst customer service ever. They will also complain in front of you if you don 't give enough tip. Food isn 't even that good to begin with. Don 't waste your time and money here. View all feedback.
Sushi freshness was not up par. Food taste did not wow me. Fried food suppose to be golden brown. It's quite a disappointment.
Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in Arlington. Fresh ingredients with original dishes. Big selection of small plates. Not much in the way of atmosphere but they make up for it with the amazing food. Tiny place so get there early or you will have a long wait since no reservations. Never had a dish I did not like so hard to recommend a favorite although the octopus small plate was pretty special. Sushi and sashimi seems to be most popular based on personal observation.
This establishment truly captivated us with its extraordinary offerings. Embracing the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine, every dish exudes genuine flavors. The service provided is not only pleasant but also remarkably friendly. Following the recommendation of a seasoned Japanese food enthusiast, we embarked on a culinary journey, indulging in a variety of delectable items. The sashimi stands out with its unparalleled freshness and delightful taste, a testament to the premium quality of the fish. The hot dishes, particularly the Takobutsu and Kani Cream Korokke, surpassed expectations with their exquisite flavors, making them highly deserving of your palate's attention. In summary, our overall experience surpassed the conventional rating scale, deserving a resounding 6 out of 5 for the exceptional and unforgettable flavors.
The room was extremely empty with no decor or anything, just a few tables in a room with some ceiling lamps. Service was good, though there was only one waitress but luckily there weren't many people so I would recommend going on a less busy hour or day. The food was pretty good like the tempura sushi and the sirloin steak as well as the raw salmon and miso soup. The only few items I didn't enjoy as much was the eel egg omelet we ordered but besides that it was decent.
This is the most beautifully fresh sushi I’ve ever had in greater Boston, and I’ve lived here for fifteen years. The service and wait time can be somewhat lengthy, but the quality of the food given a single chef preparing everything and minimal floor staff is stunning.
