The Old Club House - Argyll Bute

This restaurant is a wonderful gem. It has a charming exterior with a traditional pub atmosphere inside. The food was outstanding, clearly prepared with care at home. The service was excellent. The restaurant is affiliated with a golf course and offers stunning views of the sea and the greens.

I had previously enjoyed a meal at this restaurant, so I decided to return. However, it seems that there may have been a change in ownership or chef since my last visit. The menu was disappointingly limited, and I ended up choosing soup after seeing other dishes that did not look appetizing. Unfortunately, the chicken in my soup was cold, the vegetables and salad were soggy, and the chips were undercooked. To make matters worse, I observed the chef picking food off the floor and putting it back on the plate while I was in the restroom. The overall atmosphere was cold and the staff appeared unmotivated. It is a shame because the location is beautiful. With better management and staff, this restaurant could be much improved. I would recommend avoiding it for now.

The setting of the restaurant is lovely, with an attractive exterior. However, upon entering, the atmosphere is dark, dingy, and unwelcoming. The menu is very limited and basic, with no wine list available. The staff seemed to struggle with remembering the wine options, leading to a potential meltdown when customers requested a bottle. The food was passable, but did not impress in terms of showcasing Kintyre as a culinary destination. Overall, this was one of the least enjoyable dining experiences we've had in a long time. The owners need to reevaluate their approach in order to bring the standard up to par. I would recommend avoiding this place.

After a long beach walk we decided to stop off for lunch. Our two dogs were made most welcome receiving gravy bones! We both opted for the Clubhouse burger and chips and shared a portion of onion rings ! The burger was flawless ! Onion rings weee thick crispy ones ! No room for dessert so we opted for a rocky road cake to take away ! 10 out of 10. For food and service !

The food was delicious and perfectly cooked, the lady who served us was very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is lovely! We were lucky with the weather and the location is stunning, we'd definitely recommend it.
