It was my first time trying haggis and I had the bon bons and steak pie, both of which were delicious. The steak melted in my mouth - it was stunning. My partner had the haggis, tatties, prawn linguine, and mint cheesecake. The food was exceptional, with big portions. The staff were attentive and accommodating, fitting us in as a last-minute booking for New Year's Eve. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely come back - it was a wonderful experience.

All our meals were good but the beer battered haddock was outstanding followed by and excellent desert the homemade Cranachan a Scottish classic, made with a tower of shortbread, mixture of whipped cream, honey, fresh raspberries toasted oatmeal with a little nip of whisky.

Both the food and the staff were faultless.

I had the black pudding and haggis Bon Bons.... read more The Lorne is well reviewed on this site and well thought of by locals. I didn’t book and was lucky to get a table. I had the black pudding and haggis Bon Bons. I wasn’t expecting the black pudding and haggis to be mixed together, that’s how it is with food everyone interprets it differently, so not what I was expecting but tasty anyway. I followed this with the braised lamb shank with mashed potatoes and vegetables another good choice. When away I try to have local things in this case a pint of Seven Peaks IPA brewed in Glasgow, maybe not the best choice to go with the lamb but a good choice with the Bon Bons. The Lorne seemed to be popular, I was there on one of the burger special nights, I didn’t have one but they were popular and looked nice.
