I had a fantastic experience at Big Jessie's restaurant, not only did I enjoy a delicious dinner but I also received invaluable help from Alistair with a car problem. After returning from Gigha on the ferry, our car wouldn't start due to what I believed to be an electrical issue. The AA couldn't come out due to the remote location of Tayinloan and we were stranded as our campsite was a distance away. Thankfully, Alistair, the owner, came to our rescue with jump leads and extensive car knowledge. Thanks to him, our short break was saved. I highly recommend trying the fish and chips with all the trimmings at Big Jessie's.

This cafe is conveniently located for passengers waiting for the Gigha ferry. You can park your car in line and keep an eye out for the ferry from the cafe's windows. Since we had just missed a sailing, we decided to go inside and enjoy a coffee and a scone while we waited. The scones were warm and incredibly fresh, although a bit crumbly. They were delicious. The only minor drawback was the presence of a noisy dog belonging to another customer which became bothersome after a while.

The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the fish and chips were excellent with generous portions. This restaurant is a hidden gem on the peninsula, especially since there are very few food options outside of Campbeltown.

We stopped by this restaurant after getting off the ferry. We received a very friendly welcome, even though we were just getting coffee. The couple running the place were friendly and took the time to chat with all the customers. It's also dog-friendly, which we always appreciate!
