Small, friendly, excellent food. Limited hours; lunch 12 3; Dinner 6 9 or 10. Lunch is only the dish of the day; Dinner is an excellent choice of Peru Sandwiches I had pollen saltado on great hard role and these wonderful pommes. I gave only four instead of five for limited hours. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Garage:
It's a small place, kind of loud about the nature of the locals. Food is cheap, nothing special, pork is a lil dry, and meat usually comes on small portions, the sandwiches are mostly bread, but for pricing is ok. Service is slow. View all feedback.

We were in this residential area visiting friends and we saw this little hole in the wall restaurant advertising great sandwiches. Unfortunately, they claimed that they ran out of bread and their next batch was not due for a few hours. So we had her daily lunch special. It began with a beautiful grilled vegetable salad, which had mixed a rather unorthodox meat pairing with it. Hacked hot dogs. Oookay. The main square was a delicious Chicharron de Pollo. Not sure how they get the skin so crispy without overcooking the meat. But it was pretty delicious. It was accompanied by a white rice, a few French fries and a salad and mayonnaise salad. The meal came with a free glass of Chicha Morada, a local Kool aid from purple maize, and for dessert we were served a tapioca of varieties with mysterious fruits, although from this dish they call mazamorra. Just one step from Jello. A nice lunch and you can't beat the price. About three US dollars cheaper than McDonald's and a lot of tastier too.
I love sandwich restaurants and Grinder. I'll get a caprese sandwich. I know a good one when I have it. My husband had some sort of Peruvian Philly cheese steak and he loved it. Very recommended.

Nice variety of dishes, mainly sanwich based but all really tasty we sampled the beef heart sandwich and two more which filled us up. Nice selection of beers to go with it. Also nice not to be in the tourist centre, just a 7...sol taxi from the main square.
