As first timers to the cafe there was no welcome, no info about whether to wait to be seated or find a spot for ourselves. We hung around the door unsure and uncomfortable. The waiter, a young man dressed in sportswear, told us there were very busy, very shortstaffed (as if it was our problem/fault) and that there would be a wait. Didn’t say where, so we still hung around the door feeling like awkward, unwelcome and unwanted miscreants. Eventually he cleared and cleaned a table for us upstairs, handed us a menu and we had to find the spot for ourselves. The menu was uninspiring, we weren’t offered a drink when we sat down and the table was sticky and still had gloop on from whoever had used it previously. Totally negative experience. We walked out before we had the chance to order. If there is a manager reading this, an apology would be appropriate.

Our small party of 4 stopped here for breakfast before catching the ferry and continuing our cycle ride around Strangford Lough. Plenty of parking for bicycles.... read more Our small party of 4 stopped here for breakfast before catching the ferry and continuing our cycle ride around Strangford Lough. Plenty of parking for bicycles. Great choice of breakfast, we all had something difference and which we all enjoyed, large pots of tea! Friendly staff.

The burger arrived after 15 minutes, followed by the chips 10 m... read more I waited for 30 minutes to be served at this restaurant. I ordered a Hawaiian burger with chips. The burger arrived after 15 minutes, followed by the chips 10 minutes later. The tables were dirty and the inside of the restaurant looked nice but was actually terrible. The service staff also forgot their manners.

Tried the pizza shop next door on monday and have nothing but a blissful reveiw. Pizza was beautiful and i enjoyed watching the girls working making them right... read more Tried the pizza shop next door on monday and have nothing but a blissful reveiw. Pizza was beautiful and i enjoyed watching the girls working making them right infront of me, the staff was warm, friendly and were full of craic. Food was a reasonable price and was very quick service. Will be back again next time im in portaferry!
