I thought there was a good selection of food. Scones also looked lovely.

The food selection was poor and the tray bakes we ordered tasted m... read more My mother, niece and I went here as we love the Hillmount in Belfast.We were so disappointed. The food selection was poor and the tray bakes we ordered tasted mediocre at best. But it was the staff who really topped off our whole experience they were so unfriendly! My little niece aged 2 and a half wanted a little child's box to put her food into. We were told that we couldn't even purchase the BOX itself unless we ordered a full meal for her (NB she couldn't have chips because the Hillmount Newtownards doesn't serve these). We wont be back.

The staff at the Gardeners Rest were very unfrie... read more I visited this branch as a change from our usual Belfast location and unfortunately, I won't be returning here. The staff at the Gardeners Rest were very unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. We even overheard them talking about us because we weren't regular customers. It seems like they only cater to locals. I asked for my favorite dish, the chicken and broccoli bake, only to be told they didn't have it today. Why have it on the menu if you're not going to serve it? I ended up having the beef instead, but wasn't very impressed. I'll be sticking to Belfast Hillmount where the staff are much more welcoming compared to here.

The fries are beautifully cooked, not greasy, and the staff greets you with a smile. It's the perfect way to start your weekend. Fantastic experience overall.
