My husband and I went to this restaurant for lunch on Saturday afternoon. We sat next to the fireplace, which was cozy and warm especially since it was cold outside. We both ordered soup, which was delicious and served with fresh wheaten bread. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be returning. What blacktumtum doesn't like about Coat Makers Cafe:
There was no staff available to serve customers at the coffee shop, even though it was open. We waited for 10 minutes to be served, then asked the female staff member if the shop was open. She confirmed that it was open, but when we asked if anyone was serving, she replied that she would be with us shortly. Went with friends and found it a cosy and friendly place. Delicious scones good choice. The lemon scones are lovely fresh and zesty. Coffee good and the offer of coffee top ups just says it all. Staff friendly and I even met the cook who shared her scone recipes.
Usually quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Good food and friendly staff, local newspaper and magazines. Pleasant surrounding with the coats, and other handmade clothes nearby. Wood-stove in winter.
Dropped in for coffee when I was suppose to be Christmas shopping. I have to say, I was very impressed, not only with the shop and cafe, but the staff are really friendly and very welcoming. However, please note that during the months of JANUARY and FEBRUARY the cafe is close, but I think you can see get Tea/Coffee etc, but you would be better to check first to make sure I am correct.
The staff in this cafe/store are very welcoming and friendly. The cafe itself does have yummy tray bakes (that's all we tried) but it's prices are in keeping with the store, a wee bit pricey.
As a regular visitor to the coatmakers cafe I cannot recommend it highly enough! From scones, traybakes cakes to breakfast or lunch, everything is delicious obviously made with high quality ingredients nicely presented. Service is excellent prices very reasonable. Only slight issue is parking but definitely worth a walk!
