There was a ‘homely’ feel to the place... read more Restaurant Romerhof is truly a gem of a place. When we arrived, I was instantly charmed by the friendliness of the staff. There was a ‘homely’ feel to the place. Our waiter (a lovely man from Seychelles) took our order. I ordered the crab salad,...which featured a tian and mango salad along with deep fried soft shell crab and sweet chilli sauce. It was simply divine. My main course was a Mauritian Chicken and Prawn Curry. It was a fantastic curry, and please, if you are reading this, don’t be afraid from ordering it if you are concerned about heat: it was aromatic, fresh and full of flavour. Chef Gerald came to our table a few times. He tailored the dish to me in terms of spice, and I’m proud to say that I walked away with a pot of his homemade chilli sauce that he kindly gave to me. My boyfriend’s dish was the Beef Fillet Steak and Mash. The mash was so smooth and buttery and he could have cut through his steak with a butter knife: a perfect choice for all of us meat aficionados out there. Desserts were sublime. The apple tart melted in the mouth. The cheese wagon was an absolute delight: with a selection of five cheeses, nuts, honey and fruit bread, all sliced and served at the table. All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The price to some, may appear slightly dear, but in my opinion, our meal was worth every single penny. Thank you again to our waiter; Gerald and Dominique for a memorable evening, and we will certainly be returning again.
