Chef Tom has a magic touch that seems to make everything he creates turn out perfectly. This restaurant is a hidden gem on the North Fork. The wine and food choices are outstanding, and the menu is frequently updated. The service is consistently top-notch. If you find yourself on the island and want to indulge in a fantastic meal, check out his restaurant, Jewel, located off Route 110. It truly is a treasure!
For my main course, I ordered the roasted cauliflower pasta with pine nuts, buttered bread crumbs, and cheese. I was quite disappointed with both the portion size—barely a cup of pasta—and the lack of flavor. I've made this dish at home, and I feel they could learn a thing or two from my recipe. My husband ordered the hanger steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with a delicious chimichurri sauce and truffle fries that were fantastic. For dessert, I chose the strawberry rhubarb crumble, which was overly gummy but paired well with a scoop of tasty vanilla gelato. My husband had the baked Alaska, which was wonderful! With so many great restaurant options available, I doubt we'll return.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious—fresh, vibrant, and featuring creative flavor combinations. The small plate concept was pushed to the limit with the white gazpacho, which could have used a bit more volume. I would recommend serving the hanger steak on a ceramic plate rather than stainless steel; who enjoys eating off metal? The ambiance of the room is pleasant, but the noise level increased as more people arrived. The service was outstanding—our waitress was charming, attentive, and knowledgeable. We will definitely return, and we’ll choose to sit in the lovely back area next time.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. There was a Christmas garland still on the railing, a foul sewage smell as we parked, and trash littering the courtyard. To top it all off, the bartender also played the roles of waiter, busboy, and possibly even chef—and was quite unpleasant to deal with!
