This review is for Ban Thai in Ao Nang which is located along the Nopparat Thara Beach Rod. It's typical of eating places in this area : completely open air at the front, but has a roof and three sides. There was a large group of locals eating here when we walked by, which is one of the things we look for when chosing a place to eat. The two women at the front were very welcoming and one spoke pretty good English. I had pad thai with wonton which was different from the usual noodle dish. The deep fried wontons were really good but I like the noodle version better. The chicken was tender white meat, the sprouts and onions were still crisp, and the food was served hot. It was obviously cooked to order. My husband's chicken stir fry with cashews was excellent was a perfect “heat” level. Beer and food is inexpensive and portion size is moderate. The Thai group was having a good time which energized the entire place.

I ordered sweet and sour chicken with seafood fried rice. My wife went for chicken with cashew nuts plus chicken fried rice. Took over 30 mins to come. Restaurant very noisy hot with no fans. Wife’s dish was too spicy while mine was fairly tasteless. The only plus point was that helpings were large. Worst meal we’ve had in poor ambience. Avoid.
