What Thierry Noel dislikes about Goood:
We were tempted by the menu between/plat/dessert to taste a good part of the achievements of the chef. everything was very good, the products are very fresh, the house of master restorer is very appreciable but especially the realizations are very good. the between ravioli gambas and burrata truffe are excellent, the tastes are well pronounced. burger aioli is a real success! We will also highlight the quality of ser... View all feedback.
Very good surprise, the card makes you want, the dishes are good and the service is fast. The chief is very friendly, he comes to see his clients to make sure everything was okay. a small eye for the melting of chocolate, caramel and black olives, a real discovery. I recommend it if you have the option to go.
Tiny restaurant, chef focused with an excellent server. They got us in even though they were slammed. We patiently waited, and were rewarded with a delicious meal, nice wine (natural), and friendly service. We enjoyed the evening, and will return.
This restaurant is set in a small area on the outskirts of town. The welcome from the chef and front of house staff was nice. Menu is limited, which I like (as it suggests fresh ingredients ; so far, so 'goood '. We were not overly hungry so chose to skip starters, so can 't comment on those, and went straight to mains. Here 's where it fell down. Husband and I chose the fish and son went for the lobster pasta. The seabass fish was nice enough, just not 'wow '. It was served on a combination of typical roasted courgette and some kind of cold peppers, a bit weird and not the biggest portion, but OK. The lobster pasta was average at best. The 200g lobster amounted to two mouthfuls of not very good lobster. Not rubbery and overcooked, but not juicy and succulent; sort of 'dry ' and flavourless. This basically left a bowl of pasta and tomato sauce with a couple of olives for 25 euro. I noticed from a previous poor review that the chef commented he had not been told about any issues during the meal, so I decided to let him know that the pasta dish did not meet my expectations. To be fair, he did come out and speak to us, but proceeded to tell me how the lobster must have been fine because it is fresh every day and it is consistently on the menu because it is a restaurant favourite. He also reminded me that it stated 200g on the menu. I don 't really know what that means, but I had expected that this would equate to more than two mouthfuls (maybe the 200g relates to the overall lobster, shell and all and not the contents? . Anyway, he didn 't seem to want to acknowledge the customer 's perspective, which is a shame. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant as it was the most disappointing of my 2.5 week visit to France (see my other more positive reviews . I would recommend Chez LuLu or Casa Di Luciano for a much more enjoyable meal.
Excellent small restaurant down a quiet street near Place General de Gaulle. I found it by happy chance and was attracted by the short menu which changes weekly. Generally I find the smaller the menu, the better. The owner and chef/Maitre Simon is welcoming and engages on a personal level as does his serveuse, Katrine. The food is different to the usual offerings locally and the two meals I had were 1st class. The wine list is also unusually quirky and considered and shows that Simon is trying to offer an alternative to the usual tourist fare. If you want to eat well, eat here. I'm back in March and I don't think I'll be eating anywhere else. Thanks Simon.
My recent lunch in Goood was like the proverbial curate’s egg; good in parts. There is plenty to commend here, so positives first. Location is a quiet square a bit off the beaten track in bustling Antibes. Menu is short and interesting. Chef-proprietor and waiter both welcoming and attentive. So far so goood! I quite enjoyed my main, a generous fresh piece of swordfish. The grilled vegetables that came with it were nothing special. Less enjoyable was my starter, a tartlet filled with chilled cream of burrata and topped with confit tomatoes. All of the individual elements were good but didn’t work well together, with the crumbly texture of the shortcrust pastry grating against the runny burrata, further exacerbated by the chilled serving temperature- poor value for €15 in my opinion. Overall, I thought that with such a concise lunch menu, the proposition looks very goood but it didn’t really deliver for this customer, and I’m a bit puzzled by the high TA rating. I see from other reviews that the chef-proprietor can be a bit sensitive to criticism on TA, and if he wants to bring it up then I can confirm that he asked me how the meal was before we left the restaurant. I told him it was good, raised no issues whatsoever, paid my bill and went on my way. He may consider it duplicitous that I’ve given a more candid and detailed opinion in a TA review. Personally, I’d consider it bizarre to complain to a chef unless the food was truly bad, which was certainly not the case here, and I think that politeness and unwillingness to make a scene will usually prevail in this situation (certainly in my case). I hope I’ve been fair.
