One of the restaurants in the hotel du cap. excellent atmosphere and very good dishes. very good and friendly service. we had a great evening.
I hadn’t been to the grill at the hotel du cap Eden roc before but I’d always heard of it and been told to go. It didn’t do anything wrong per say until the bill came. We knew exactly how much it was going to...be before I went but I was disappointed. The grill is very much a glorified pool bar and it’s a very good one at that, I also cannot stress enough what a cool place the hotel and its land surrounding. especially the famous pool built into the rock at the end of the cap! But I would never go there to spend euros for the of us on a fish starter weather it be tuna sashimi or another ceviche followed by a burger or pasta dish with a few deserts and a single bottle of wine. It simply did not add up despite how cool the place is. If you end up reading a few of my reviews you will know that when we dine out we don’t do half measures and it is therefore natural that bills will climb but if it is worth it it is worth it, this was sadly not. If you have to go, go once and see for yourself and if your Russian then just go all the time it doesn’t matter. Very cool place but won’t be going again.
We booked an anniversary meal well in advance, excited to come here the year in a row. Last year was amazing, we got a good service and food. This year , we arrived and the manager placed us at the worst table in the...restaurant, behind a pillar which was obstructing our view of the sea completely. I kindly requested a table closer to the sea view, he claimed only hotel guests can stay there, even though I told him last year we were sat there with no issues. We thought ok, fine let's have a look at the menu, worth mentioning the restaurant was not busy at all, so we asked again the waiter if we can at least change to a different table, he came back after speaking with the manager who just said no. The manager did not even bother coming to our table. This was just unbelievable, very disrespectul, therefore we decided to leave, I wasn't going to spend a couple hundred euros on an anniversary meal sitting at the worst table in the restaurant. Given the whole point of this place is to enjoy the sea view and this is the whole idea when I booked in advance and I mentioned anniversary. Clearly they don't care anymore, they only cared last year when they barely had any guests. Such a shame, will pick a different restaurant next year for sure, won't be returning , there are plenty of amazing places on the Riviera, this one isn't anymore.
I had absolutely fabulous gazpacho served in delightful red crockery (best in ages); a wonderful chicken breast with delicious mashed potato; a glass of perfect chilled white Puligny Montrachet (the Sancerre is good too); and a heavenly dessert of berries, whipped cream and more besides....This really is a class place. Superb service. Do visit; you'll thank me.
